KevinKershaw 100x100 Cork student feared drowned as search efforts for trawler continueA 21 year old student from Cork is feared drowned as hopes fade that the remaining survivors from yesterday’s tragic fishing vessel sinking will be found.

One Egyptian crewman, Mohammed Add Elgwad, is the only survivor so far, as search efforts continue for a second day.

The vessel sank in Glandore Bay early yesterday morning.

The missing men are skipper Michael Hayes, 52, student Kevin Kershaw, 21, and Egyptians Waal Addelgwad, Ali Eldien and Zhaban Farrg.

Volunteers from the west Cork Civil Defence, Navy, and Garda divers are all involved in the search efforts, which were yesterday hampered by adverse weather conditions.

Kevin Kershaw, 21, had been living with his aunt in Clonakilty for the past 8 years and was delighted to have found himself some real-life work experience on the vessel.

According to the Irish Examiner Kershaw texted his aunt just before the voyage; she texted back, urging him to be careful.
